A leading rail leasing company provides rolling stock leasing services to European passenger and freight train operators.
With an extensive fleet of locomotives, freight wagons, and passenger trains, it offers leasing solutions tailored to operational needs.
Backed by a strong management team with deep industry experience, it focuses on reliability, long-term partnerships, and technical expertise to support its customers’ evolving requirements.
Working with tight schedules and defined go-live deadlines, the project presented challenges that required careful coordination.
With multiple stakeholders involved, expectations were high, and every milestone was critical.
The team at Mercurius IT was committed to delivering a smooth transition, ensuring that operations remained unaffected throughout the process.
To facilitate the migration from JDE to Microsoft Dynamics 365, Mercurius IT collaborated with a third-party specialist in data extraction.
Handling the transformation and population of data into the new system required precision, especially given the constraints of delayed sign-offs.
Despite these pressures, the project was delivered on schedule, with transparency and close collaboration ensuring that all stakeholders remained informed and aligned.
“The level of communication and cooperation throughout the project was exceptional. The team ensured we understood each step, making what could have been a complex transition much easier to navigate,” shared a key member of the client’s implementation team.
Training played a vital role in the project’s success. The team provided multiple sessions, ensuring users were comfortable with the new system’s functionalities.
By prioritising hands-on learning, the confidence of the client’s employees grew, reducing errors and enabling them to manage the system independently after going live.
All required data was successfully migrated, and the go-live process was executed without significant issues. No priority-one or priority-two defects were reported, demonstrating the care taken in preparation and implementation.
The team also developed a customised solution for component accounting in fixed assets tailored to the client’s financial processes. Additionally, invoices were provided in Dutch, accommodating local requirements.
“The support we received extended far beyond the technical implementation. Every question was answered, and every challenge was met with a solution that worked for us,” said a senior finance team member at the company.
Beyond the core implementation, the project also involved integrating new modules in D365 Finance, such as asset leasing and subscription billing.
This expansion of functionality provided added value, aligning with the client’s operational needs.
Given the complexity of the existing production environment, ensuring that no disruptions occurred during implementation was a key priority—and this was successfully achieved.
The project, spanning 423 person-days, was about meeting a deadline and delivering a system that worked effectively from day one.
The client was pleased with the results and awarded Mercurius IT additional implementation projects in other regions, reflecting the trust built through the collaboration.
From overcoming initial hurdles to delivering a solution that met every requirement, the partnership between the client and Mercurius IT was defined by commitment and a shared focus on achieving success.
The journey continues, with future projects set to build on this strong foundation.
