The Customer

Pentland Wholesale Ltd., founded in 1993, is a renowned UK-based importer and commercial refrigeration and food service equipment supplier. With over 25 years of continuous growth, Pentland has established an enviable reputation within the industry.

The company’s 56,000 ft² (5,200 m²) facility, strategically located on the motorway network in the Northwest of England, facilitates efficient distribution across the UK. Its unwavering commitment to business integrity and exceptional customer service distinguish Pentland.

The Challenge

Pentland faced several operational challenges that necessitated a robust overhaul of its warehouse management system. As the number of users increased quarterly, NAV became slower and less efficient. Enhancing NAV’s infrastructure to accommodate the growing user base was projected to be prohibitively expensive.

The dual challenge of migrating from NAV to Business Central (BC) while simultaneously implementing Tasklet’s Warehouse Management System (WMS) presented significant complexity.

Both processes must be executed in parallel, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations. Additionally, transitioning to the cloud-based SaaS version of BC required an effective file management solution. Integrating this with SharePoint was essential yet challenging due to the intricacies of cloud-based implementations.

The Solution

To address these challenges, Mercurius IT was engaged to provide a comprehensive solution that included migrating from NAV to BC with a strategic focus on the seamless implementation of Tasklet’s WMS.

This approach ensured that enhancements were completed within a defined timeline, allowing for thorough testing and implementation without delays. Tasklet’s WMS was integrated with BC on SaaS, providing clarity and efficiency in warehouse management.

This integration allowed Pentland to visualise and manage their warehouse operations more effectively. Files were managed using SharePoint and integrated seamlessly with BC, ensuring that all file management processes were efficient and aligned with the cloud-based SaaS infrastructure.

The Benefits

The implementation of Business Central on SaaS and Tasklet’s WMS yielded numerous benefits for Pentland. Migrating to Business Central on SaaS eliminated the need for additional infrastructure investments, making it a cost-effective solution for Pentland.

The integration of Tasklet and BC simplified and expedited warehouse management processes, allowing users to focus more on critical tasks such as deliveries and packaging rather than spending excessive time inputting data into the system.

The new system streamlined operations, resulting in quicker and easier warehouse management. This enhanced operational efficiency contributed to better overall performance and customer satisfaction.

Pentland Wholesale Ltd.’s collaboration with Mercurius IT has been transformative. By migrating from NAV to Business Central and integrating Tasklet’s WMS, Pentland has overcome significant operational challenges. The result is a more efficient, cost-effective, and streamlined warehouse management system, positioning Pentland for continued growth and success in the competitive commercial refrigeration and food service equipment industry.
