The Customer

An established manufacturer and distributor of a wide range of Indian culinary products, our client has built a strong reputation for delivering authentic, high-quality flavours worldwide since its inception in 1993. Focusing on B2C sales in UK supermarkets and online platforms and catering to B2B wholesale demands globally, our client’s products have reached various regions, including Europe, the Far East, the Middle East, and the USA.

The Challenge

As our client expanded its operations, it became evident that modernising its systems was essential. The existing setup, which was managed through a legacy ERP system, posed challenges in efficient inventory and financial management.

Maintaining data integrity throughout the process chain became crucial with a complex supply chain spanning from sourcing products in India to distributing them globally through Third-Party Logistics (3PL) services.

Additionally, accurate financial information, including landed cost calculations and profitability margins, was vital for sustainable growth. The complexity of operations demanded a robust solution, with a pressing timeline of three months for effective implementation.

The Solution

To address these challenges, our client opted for a transformative solution by implementing Dynamics 365 Business Central. This move centralised data, eliminating silos and ensuring seamless information flow across all operations. Leveraging cutting-edge ERP technology from Microsoft, our client gained access to modern functionalities, enhanced accessibility, and compliance with regulatory standards.

The implementation encompassed configuring financial processes, including standard cost and profitability margin management within Business Central. Comprehensive financial analysis became achievable through accurate standard costings, landed cost calculations, simplified bank reconciliation, and fixed asset management. Integrating the chosen 3PL platform facilitated optimised inventory management, enabling smooth operations between ERP and 3PL services.

An Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) integration further enhanced communication, automating sales and purchase orders for expedited processing. Moreover, a subcontracting process was incorporated to streamline bulk wholesale imports, ensuring efficient conversion into retail-ready containers.

The Benefits

Implementing Dynamics 365, Business Central gave our client access to state-of-the-art ERP technology. The EDI integration streamlined sales order processing, reducing the effort and time required. Automated workflows between ERP and 3PL software enhanced productivity and expedited processes.

Consolidating key finance, inventory, and distribution processes into a single solution streamlined operations and provided a single source of truth. Improved financial processes and inventory management optimised profitability and operational efficiency.

By embracing modern ERP solutions and leveraging our expertise, our client has positioned itself for sustained growth and success in the competitive landscape of manufacturing and commerce.
