The Challenges

  • Manual Invoicing: The process of sending invoices to customers after shipments was entirely manual. This created delays and additional workload for the finance team.
  • Unclear Internal Processes: Allendale lacked clarity around the best operational practices to follow. This made it difficult to maintain consistency, efficiency, and scalability across departments.
  • System Limitations: Salesforce, their prior system, could not support the complex warehouse functionality required, especially when it came to real-time updates and reporting.

The Solution

To address these issues, Allendale engaged Mercurius IT to implement a robust solution and provide strategic consulting. The project was managed in close collaboration with an external Project Manager from Pebble IT, who oversaw the successful delivery and coordination of all phases.

  • Tasklet Implementation: A mobile warehouse management solution, Tasklet, was integrated with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central (also implemented by Mercurius IT) to support warehouse operations. Mercurius enhanced the standard Tasklet functionality to meet Allendale’s specific needs.
  • Custom Serial Number Shipping Process: A bespoke customisation was developed on top of the standard Business Central and Tasklet processes to streamline the scanning and posting of shipments with serial numbers, even for large and complex orders.
  • Automated Invoicing Feature: A custom automation was added to Business Central to send invoices automatically once shipments were completed, eliminating the need for manual intervention.
  • Operational Consulting: Mercurius IT worked closely with Allendale to define best practices, restructure inefficient workflows, and ensure smooth adoption of the new systems.
  • Project Oversight: Throughout the implementation, Pebble IT’s Project Manager provided expert project governance, ensuring timelines were met, scope was controlled, and communication between all parties was seamless.
